You’ve never really thought about or understood your home energy consumption, and you’ve never thought about controlling the thermostat remotely, but now that you know it’s possible you HAVE to do it.

You’ve never really thought about or understood your home energy consumption, and you’ve never thought about controlling the thermostat remotely, but now that you know it’s possible you HAVE to do it.

Since HōlHōm is a home energy controller and Wi-Fi gateway that has a built-in Teaching Thermostat you’ll gain a clear understanding of how much energy you consume and when you consume it. Knowing when you consumer energy is as important as knowing how much. You will be able to see exactly how much electricity your home consumes when you are not home. Yeah you heard it right, when you are not at home. And you will be shocked! (no pun intended). When you see energy spikes you can track down which appliance it is and then decide if the appliance is operating the way you want. You’ll also be able to control the thermostat remotely – anytime, anywhere. So if you happen to leave home and realize you forgot to change your thermostat settings, no problem, just use your smart phone. HōlHōm will teach you how much energy you are using and how much it is costing you each hour, day, week, and month right on its screen or using MyHōlHōm. MyHōlHōm web and mobile apps provide real-time and long-term feedback, the capability to see how you are using your energy, and then the ability to take action to improve your home or business energy efficiency by shifting usage to non-peak times or by reducing energy consumption.

Large, easy-to-use and understand buttons

Large, easy-to-use and understand buttons

They’re just buttons, right? Yeah of course. They mean up and down. Say you want to raise the temperature because you are feeling chilly. You press the up button (the top one) once, twice, three times, or until it displays the temperature you want and then walk away. Of course you can use your smart phone or tablet to change the temperature too. And HōlHōm is smart enough to put you back to your regular temperature at the next scheduled change.

HōlHōm lights up in response to higher electricity prices, displaying a blue light when the thermostat is responding to a price change, and yellow, orange or red lights when the price is higher.

It's not just a smart thermostat. When paired with your ZigBee enabled Smart Meter, HōlHōm displays your whole home’s electricity usage, including: • The current hourly cost of your electricity consumption • Your current, daily and monthly electricity costs and usage.

“For those about to drop $200+ on a thermostat (or any tech product) it pays to review the installation/programming instructions for what you are considering to buy. See what each product will/won't do and if the price difference is worth it. My own thermostat is HōlHōm. This gateway has an excellent thermostat, the big feature for me is it communicates with my smart meter and I can see my electricity use. It doesn't hurt that our local utility has an energy efficiency program and I received a rebate on the purchase price.”

“It was easy to save money by making small changes to our household electricity use. Our home is energy efficient and knowing where and when we are using electricity made it easy to use less. We don’t do laundry during peak hours and we do pre-cool, or pre-heat, depending on the season, our house when prices are low so that when the price goes up, we don’t need to run the air conditioning to keep our home cool. We found that we have more control over your electricity bills than we first imagined and that the choices we make about how much energy we use and when you use it plays a large part in how much our monthly electricity bill ends up at.”
